BREAST CANCER & CERVICAL CANCER AWARENESS CAMP

Demonstrating unwavering commitment to community health, the Rotary Club of Kolkata Benevolence organized a profound
awareness camp on February 24, 2024, focusing on cervical and breast cancer for sex workers in the Kalighat area. Esteemed medical professionals, Dr. Rooplekha Dey and Dr. Mukti Roy, graced the event with their expertise.

During the session, the doctors illuminated the insidious nature of cervical cancer, often lurking symptom-free until reaching
advanced stages. Urging the importance of regular screenings, they sought to instill a sense of urgency among attendees. For
breast cancer, emphasis was placed on the criticality of self-examinations and mammograms, accompanied by a detailed
explanation of how early detection can be a lifesaver.

Moreover, the doctors delved into common symptoms and causes, shedding light on issues such as limited access to healthcare,
poor nutrition, and lack of awareness. Through this enlightening initiative, the Rotary Club of Kolkata Benevolence aimed
to empower and safeguard the health of the community.
