Seminar on Fish Hatchery

February 23

In partnership with the Prameya Foundation, the Rotary Club of Kolkata Benevolence organized a seminar on fish farming for 44 women in Jhorkhali, Sunderbans, on February 23, 2024. This insightful session covered essential topics such as selecting fingerlings, ensuring proper nutrition, and managing fish health and common diseases. The primary focus was on empowering local women through the establishment of a fish hatchery, providing them with a sustainable livelihood
by breeding and selling fish fingerlings.

Our club remains steadfast in its commitment to guide and support the implementation of this technology-driven hatchery. Led by Dr. Debtanu Barman, a distinguished aquaculture expert and club member, the seminar not only imparted knowledge but also laid the foundation for the hatchery’s successful establishment.

Furthermore, we were honored to host Rotarian Nico Korswagen from the Rotary Club of Ermelo-Putten, Holland, as a guest
of the Rotary Club of Kolkata Benevolence. His presence added valuable insights and encouragement as he addressed the
audience, reinforcing our collective dedication to enhancing the livelihoods of local villagers
