EVENING SHELTER FOR CHILDREN OF THE SEX WORKERS

On March 11th, the Rotary Club of Kolkata Benevolence proudly unveiled its second learning center, situated at Sonagachi
Roads, catering specifically to the children of sex workers. This center is a dedicated space offering education, extracurricular
activities, and a nurturing environment for these vulnerable children, particularly during the evenings when their mothers are
occupied with their profession.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Minister of State, Smt. Sashi Panja, who commended the initiative and
pledged her full support to the Rotary Club of Kolkata Benevolence. She also advocated for the establishment of day centers for
children of sex workers, emphasizing their vital importance. It’s worth noting that the first education center commenced its
operations on December 11th, 2023, at Kalighat’s red light area, and has been successfully operating ever since.
